- Glucksman Gallery
Identity for an International Gallery - an oldie but a goodie!
The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is a cultural and educational institution that promotes the research, creation and exploration of the visual arts. Located at University College Cork, it is an award-winning building that includes display spaces, lecture facilities, a riverside restaurant and gallery shop.
When we were chosen to name and develop the identity for this exciting new landmark gallery, we couldn’t have anticipated the level of participation from all corners of the University in the creative process. We held a number of creative workshops and invited everyone to take part where available.
Great insights were garnered from these sessions but perhaps one that we acted on most was relating to the idea of a corporate colour palette. A visiting history professor queried this concept in an abstract way. While acknowledging cost as a standard prohibitive factor he asked “Why should there be just two corporate colours, why not just use them all? change them every time..”
The final solution reflects this thought in every way through colour, shape and typography. A solution that knows its place, the building in itself a masterpiece.
